It is a scrub jungle with rich flora,fauna - home to 120 species of birds, 400 species of plants.
It's star resident is the great horned owl or the Indian Eagle Owl.
This forest is the only site, the bird breeds, in Chennai.
In a contentious decision, alignment of the Metro Rail, Phase 2, is proposed to pass thru' the Reserve Forest.
CMRL has formally filed an aplication for diversion of land, under Forest Conservation Act.
