Nanmangalam

Nanmangalam Reserve Forest spanning about 320 hectares  adjoins the Tambaram -Velacheri Main Road. 

It is a scrub jungle with rich flora,fauna - home to 120 species of birds, 400 species of plants. 

It's star resident is the great horned owl or the Indian Eagle Owl.

This forest is the only site, the bird breeds, in Chennai. 

In a contentious decision, alignment of the Metro Rail, Phase 2, is proposed to pass thru' the Reserve Forest.

CMRL has formally filed an aplication for diversion of land, under  Forest Conservation Act.

Padmawati

 Tirumala Tirupati Dewasthanams are to build a temple for Goddess Padmawati, in T. Nagar, Chennai.

The land  at G N Chetty Street, was donated by noted south Indian actress Kanchana. 

What was proposed as an ornamental brickwork structure, is now upgraded to a granite structure.
